New year, new sponsors

In 2008 I called it time on my road racing career for good. It didn’t take long to find new interests and challenges. While I had long dismissed triathlon, I found myself racing Xterra triathlon in 2010. Fast forward 5 years and I find myself welcoming some of my best sponsors ever and I owe some of that support to this podcast and you the listener. As always, you will not see recommendations or endorsements of products I would not buy myself, and all of these supporters are some of the best companies in sport.

It will be great to be back in the mainstream racing for the SLS3 Tri team. We all have custom clothing choices, SLS3 is a new kid on the block ready to bring the best technology to you, including the FX tri race suit. I am psyched to be wearing some truly awesome clothing tech this season!

When it comes to all things outdoors in the Mid-atlantic and Southeast, Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine has been the definitive guide to outdoor sports, health, and adventure travel for more than 17 years! BRO Magazine was my first source for trail racing and outdoors news when I moved to Richmond, and I am proud to be representing them this season.

Rudy Project is well beyond just technically cool eyewear, they are one of the best best companies in the business on all levels. Eyewear, helmets, apparel & gear, and awesome casual options, I cannot believe I have had the good fortune to work with such an awesome company for 15 years. This year I’ll be wearing the new Airstorm helmet on the MTB, the Wing57 on the road, and the the Genetyk eyewear. Checkout e-rudy today and all the great deals.

When it comes to eating on the bike, on the run, or on the go, Honey Stinger has been making great tasting sports nutrition for nearly 15 years, of which I’ve been onboard for 13 of those years. Their waffles are to die for, and their energy bars have been a key part of my nutrition for more than a decade. Honey Stinger, sting or be stung!

There are few exercise physiologists who can translate our science into true applied performance as well as Allen Lim. So when I first tasted Skratch Labs exercise hydration mix I knew it would be a winner. With a natural sweetness and Allen’s own expert take on hydration of extreme endurance sport, I’m positive Skratch Labs will be a competitive advantage this season.

Last, but definitely not least are your feet, the link to ultimate power production on the bike requires the most efficient and comfortable interface you can find. For nearly 15 years my choice has been Sidi shoes, so obviously I’m delighted to be sponsored by Sidi and Cyclista America. Considering the cost of any good shoe on the market, Sidi brings a winning system with their Techno 3 buckle (the best ever) and perfect fit, plus unparalleled durability and replacement parts, Sidi shoes will stand the test of time!

Be sure to stay tuned throughout the season as I give review new sponsor products, post training and race reports, as well as insights into what you can do to optimize your own performance.
